Alyssa Figueroa's journey to becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and founder of Powerhouse ABA is a testament to the transformative power of passion and purpose. 

Initially on a trajectory towards a career in law, Alyssa pursued a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a Pre-Law track at North Central College. It was a path she had envisioned since her youth, driven by a desire to advocate for justice and positive change. However, life had other plans in store for her.

After graduation, Alyssa's first job led her down an unexpected path. Working as a one-on-one aide with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, Alyssa found herself immersed in a world of compassion, empathy, and profound learning.

It was in this role that Alyssa was introduced to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a methodology that resonated deeply with her values and aspirations. Witnessing firsthand the positive impact of ABA techniques on the lives of her clients ignited a newfound passion within Alyssa.

Determined to further her understanding and expertise in ABA, Alyssa embarked on a journey of academic and professional growth. She pursued a master's degree in ABA from Aurora University, eager to delve deeper into the field and make a lasting difference.

Throughout her studies, Alyssa gained invaluable experience working across various settings, including group homes, clinic-based environments, home-based therapy, and therapeutic day schools. Each experience enriched her understanding of ABA and reinforced her commitment to empowering autistic individuals. 

Looking towards the future, Alyssa's passion for continual learning and increasing her competency drives her to set ambitious goals. She aspires to further her education and revisit her initial dream of attending law school, this time with a specialization in special education law. Her goal is to deepen her understanding of legal frameworks and advocate even more effectively for clients and their families, ensuring they receive the support and resources they deserve.

In 2021, Alyssa's vision and dedication culminated in the founding of Powerhouse ABA – a beacon of hope and support for individuals and families seeking compassionate and effective behavior consultation services.

Today, Alyssa continues to lead with compassion, expertise, and unwavering dedication. Her journey from aspiring lawyer to esteemed Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a testament to the profound impact of following one's passion and embracing the unexpected twists and turns of life's journey.
